Ulaayu Pilurtuut, Inuk
Born in 1964 in Kangirsujuaq - Nunavik, she now lives in Kuujjuaq, the largest community on the Ungava Peninsula. His first drawings date back to the age of nine. His works depict culture, the Inuk way of life and nature. She usually uses an ink of black pigment and a touch of color that highlights the work. She works with acrylic, oil, glass and stencil paint.
An ambassador of her ancestral culture, she teaches Inuktitut and works to invent new ways to adapt to the modern world through artistic expression.
She was selected by the Royal Canadian Mint to create three images for a series of Indigenous collector coins launched in 2013 and 2020.
