Eruoma Awashish

She holds a BA in interdisciplinary art from UQÀC and has participated in numerous exhibitions and installations such as the Contemporary Native Art Biennial and the Montreal’s Fine Arts Museum in 2018. Her artistic approach aims to create spaces for dialogue and thus facilitate understanding of First Nations culture. Having lived in the communities of Opitciwan, Wemotaci and Mashteuiatsh, Eruoma has a strong attachment to her Aboriginal culture.

Suffering and injury are themes that she often addresses because, according to her, suffering can become a gateway to transformation and self-transcendence. Her work is steeped in spirituality, symbolism and syncretism.
